Spring Fashion for the Rest of US!

I’ll be the first to admit that after researching the 2018 Spring/Summer trends, a lot of it looked a little “out there”!  Like costumes or fashion that you would only see on a runway model. If you viewed any of the runway shows online, you may be feeling intimidated or it may even make you want to give up on updating your wardrobe altogether. So I wanted to give you some ideas that may feel a little more realistic for your lifestyle so you can go into spring with confidence instead of dread.

Adding a few new things to your wardrobe can really make you feel refreshed and rejuvenated for spring so I’ve created a list of things to avoid that are over the top with things to try that are better suited for the rest of us not on the runway or on the pages of a style magazine.

Navigating Spring Fashion Trends

Avoid: The plastic boots (really?? what a strange concept!)
Try: An open toe bootie or a lace up bootie

Avoid: The large logo branded shirt
Try: The smart looking tailored or creatively cut white shirt

Avoid: The multi-multi-layered look, i.e. dress over blouse over pant plus a jacket
Try: Two layers or a one-piece jumpsuit layered with a fun necklace

Avoid: Layered multi chokers
Try: Layered pearl necklaces

Avoid: Oversized multi-patterned and multi-colored pantsuit
Try: Mixing prints with two items, i.e. a navy/white stripe cardi and navy/white polka dot top

Avoid: The corset belt
Try: Skinny leather belt or multi skinny belts intertwined

Avoid: Socks with heeled sandals
Try: Oxfords, wrapped sandals, or fun pair sneakers

Avoid: Large logo purse or clear rubber purse
Try: Large tote or a fun fanny pack or belt purse…yes! they are back.

Avoid: Cartoon prints
Try: Floral prints or black and white polka dots

Avoid: A slip dress as it’s not age appropriate for most of us and looks best on a model
Try: A fun shirtdress, a maxi skirt, or even some palazzo pants

Avoid: The turban hat
Try: Straw floppy hat with sun protection

Avoid: Heart and crazy shaped sunglasses
Try: Aviator sunglasses

Avoid: Splatter paint denim
Try: Dark denim with a fringe hem, or denim with applique

Avoid: A dress with feathers
Try: A dress or fun top with ruching or an Asymmetrical neckline

Avoid: See-through plastic garments or exposed undergarments
Try: Garments made from silk, linen, cotton, or blends; OR try the all white ensemble

Does this still seem challenging? Trust me, there is great fashion that will suit you perfectly and raise your spirits and confidence. I’d love to help you find it!

Fall Savvy News Oct 2016

Fall Savvy News
Greetings!

I am so excited it’s fall and time for sweaters and boots!  It just feels so cozy and relaxing.  Our crazy CA weather is both cool and warm but it still has a crisp, fall like feeling in the air.  There has been a lot going on with Such Savvy Style that has been keeping me busy.  I recently returned from a certification program in Atlanta where I became a certified corporate consultant in image where I help professionals and corporations focus on the ABC’s of image — appearance, behavior and communication.  Because of this, I have added a third division of my company Carrie LaShell Consulting.  The focus of this division will be on providing professionals, entrepreneurs, business owners as well as corporations the tools they need to take a deeper overall look at image within themselves and their organizations.

My latest article below takes a look at some examples of the ABC’s of image.  I hope you enjoy it and are able to see how image is so much more than just the clothing you wear.

The ABC’s of Image

We often talk about the appearance side of image but imagine all the other ways you are making first impressions with your image. It’s not just your style and appearance; it’s actually much, much more. It’s what is called the ABC’s of Image — Appearance, Behavior and Communication. All of these are pieces that play a part in the first impression you are making.

So often clients come to me and ask me to help them “up” their image game so they can move to the next level in their career or their business, but many times after we refine and polish the image there are still little details that could use improving as well. How you behave and communicate also impacts your personal image. Not only are people making a first impression on you based on what you are wearing but also how you are behaving and how you are communicating!! UGH, isn’t that a daunting thought!?!

Body language is a perfect example.  Have you ever been witness to someone who is clearly unaware that their actions and body language are making a clear statement about how they are feeling? They aren’t saying anything but you can tell how they are feeling by their non-verbal communication.   I bet a lot of us have been witness to this as well as been unaware that we have done it ourselves. I know I have as my Mom is always eager to point it out!  Imagine you waiting in a long line at CVS that isn’t moving and the clerk is moving at a snails pace.   It’s pretty easy to breath heavy, roll your eyes, shift your weight, cock your head with a look of irritation. Now imagine you are giving a presentation at work. You feel like everything you are explaining is crystal clear but a member on your team has a million questions.  It’s how you handle yourself in that situation that’s most important – important that you don’t show how annoyed or irritated that you are with the above behavior. Believe it or not, it’s not as easy as you may think that it is to hide your feelings.

Here are some good things to do.  Try to either smile as it denotes warmth and openness or try to keep a neutral poker face. A neutral face isn’t always easy so another option would be to give a small head nod and make eye contact with the person. It doesn’t always mean you agree, just that you understand what is being asked or said.

There is so much that goes into one’s image. It’s important to take a look at yourself as a whole — not just your appearance but how you interact with people in business and personal situations.  Are you able to meet new people and engage with ease? Do you know how to make an elegant exit? When you dine out with colleagues do you feel you are showing the best representation of yourself? Are you aware that others may view your relationship with your cell phone use as a problem at key moments? Helping men and women with their appearance is a passion of mine but I also love helping individuals and businesses create the best overall first impression possible. Career and personal growth happens when you are feeling on top of your game and self-confident.   If you feel you or your company could use some coaching or training in the ABC’s of image I would love to speak with you.

First Impression
Make A Statement Without
Saying a Word

Think about how often you watch or look at someone and make a judgement about them based on how they appear.  The truth is, people are doing the same to you.  Wow, isn’t that a thought!  There is new research that shows that you only have 7 seconds to make a first impression.  This means you must show up looking your best and how you want to be perceived.

Here are the Top Three Elements of Making a Great First Impression:

1.  Fit – Wearing clothing that fits you properly is key.  This means your pants should not sag in your tush, buttons should not pull, skirts should not be too short or too long and jacket sleeves and hems need to hit you at the right place.  Nothing makes you look less credible than clothing that is too big or too small, or too long or too short.  I recommend buying clothing that fits your largest area and then having a tailor alter to fit any area that is too big.

2.  Color – You want to wear colors that are your most flattering and in harmony with your hair, skin and eyes.  This means the colors blend in with your natural coloring.  Wearing the wrong colors can make you look older and lifeless.  Your skin tone can actually look gray if you are wearing colors that aren’t your best.  Try wearing your eye color as that will always be one of your best.  Teal is a universal color so everyone will have some shade that looks great on them.  Also keep in mind that people love black because they feel it’s figure flattering, however it is too harsh of a color for many to wear around the face.  If you have lighter hair and complexion think about wearing a softer brown, gray or a blue as neutral instead.

3.  Personal Brand – You are your own personal brand.  This is how others see, feel and experience you.  It’s how you show up in the world and how you will be remembered.  You are your own walking billboard.  So it’s important that you take some time and think about how you may be seen by others.  Often we don’t know what our brand is, or what we want it to be; or we think people perceive us one way when in reality we are being seen very differently.  I recommend spending some time thinking about words that express how you want to be seen.  For example: credible, conservative, approachable, elegant, sporty, powerful, fun or dramatic just to name a few.  Once you have words that create your style story you can start to dress in a way that projects that story and create a personal brand that is unique to you.

If you can think about these three elements when you are purchasing new clothing you will be well on your way to making an amazing first impression!

5 Reasons
your underwear Doesn’t Fit

Ok ladies, I know this has happened to you at least once in your life.  You leave the house and realize your underwear is sliding down, bunching up, creating panty lines or just down right uncomfortable!  Here are a few reasons you might be having a problem with your undies.

1.  You are wearing the wrong type of underwear for your body.

Solution: There’s more than one style of underwear – wear the type that fits your body best.   You may need to get professional help to figure that out.

2.  It’s too tight or too small

Solution: Know your size and buy the right size.  If you don’t know your size, get properly fitted.  Wearing a panty that is too small will create bulging, lumps and bumps.  Wearing underwear that is too big will cause them to slip and slide.

3.  Your underwear is old or shot.

Solution: Replace it regularly.  Your panties have an expiration date – roughly the same as your bras (72 wears).  Now, ladies I know some of you may have a very favorite pair but if they are old they will only be YOUR favorite pair.  To others it will look tattered and it will not fit you properly.

4.  It’s the wrong material for the outfit.

Solution: Some outfits need shape wear or a seamless smooth material to fit smoothly under fabrics to reduce friction or keep lines from showing.  How many times have you seen a thong or other kind of panty underneath a pair of white pants?!?  Yikes, not a good look at all.  Make sure you are not able to see your panty lines in the pants you are wearing…no matter what their color.

5.   Too many embellishments (bows, rhinestones) can show through clothing and create lumps and bumps.

Solution:  Keep sexy panties in the bedroom or under clothing  where it won’t show.  We all have fun underwear but let’s face it, the rest of the world doesn’t want to see the bumps from your rhinestones panties.

If you have questions or need help I’ m here!

2014 October Savvy News
I

Welcome to Such Savvy Style

Greetings!
WOW!  Time sure does fly!  I haven’t written in awhile as life has been a little crazy.  If you can believe this, my car, with Such Savvy Style logos plastered all over it, was stolen!  It was recovered but boy oh boy that was quite an ordeal!!  Who steals a girly car with logos all over it?!?!   Anyway, now fall is here and it’s about time to start changing the closet over.  We are still pretty warm here in CA but most other places are pulling out the sweaters and boots.  For all of us here in CA it’s coming and I am ready!
IMPORTANT INFO ABOUT CLOTH!!!!!

If you are a client with outfits on the Cloth app on your iphone you may recently have experienced some difficultly or missing pictures.  With the ISO8 Apple update the Cloth update is having some problems.  I have been in touch with the owner of Cloth and he has all the updates submitted to Apple.  They are currently just waiting on approval from Apple.  PLEASE DO NOT delete the app.  Once the update is approved (any day) all your pictures will return.  Let me know if you still have problems and I would be happy to try and help.

Your Personal Style is Trendy!!

This years fall trends feel like anything goes.  Not that there are not fun trends but lines seem to be becoming more and more blurred.  What I am seeing more and more over the years is that the trend is YOUR personal style.  This is really great because you are now able to dress in a style that really reflects who you are.  If you love animal print great, if you are more artistic there is a way to create a fashionable trendy look, and if you are more traditional and like sensible clothing with more tailoring you are in luck too!  The key is really taking the pieces you love and making them work for you and your own personal style.
White House Black Market
The things I am loving for fall are: textured and patterned sweaters; jumpsuits (although since I am short they are hard to find); all the amazing winter coats; eye catching prints and patterns from animal, to floral to stripes and lines.  I am so happy that mini skirts are the rage as I love them with tall boots and tights.  I also love printed pants as it’s a great way to keep outfits very interesting.
Banana Republic
So what am I not loving?  Well, I’m not as much of a fan of the boyfriend lace up flat shoe.  I think they are very cute but it really must fit your personal style as they tend to have a very unique look–a look that is not me!  So if that is your look you will love them as they are very comfortable.  I also feel like the sporty pant (which is gathered at the bottom) that seems to be so popular is hard for many people.  In order to pull off this look well, you really need to be tall and thin.  Once you add some curves to those pants they have a tendency to look more like pajamas!  I agree they are super comfy but flattering on most they are not!

Of course I am loving all the orchid and green colors in the store.  It’s actually a pretty nice blend of color choices this season.  I would say the one thing that is missing from the colors for fall is a lot of teal–it such a great color for everyone.  However, the purple and greens that are in the stores seem to be offering a lot of choices.  Remember when choosing a green color if your skin has warm undertones choose greens with more yellow in them, and if your skin is more cool choose a green with more blue undertones in it.

What I will say, is that there seems to be something in the stores for everyone this season.  If you are ready to shop for fall and feel a little overwhelmed by all choices and variety let’s shop together and I will help you make sure your personal style matches your purchases.

Ten things to update YOU for fall!

For some of you the end of summer feels a little sad.  Fewer vacations, more routines and shorter daylight hours.  Well here is a list of ten things you can do to update yourself and hopefully give you a new outlook on YOU for fall.

1.  Have a non- invasive mirco current facial from Kris Holland of Totally Skin.  "You cannot replace your face" according to Kris.  I love how my skin looks lifted and brighter after I have a treatment.  The before and after is pretty amazing!

2.  Change your make-up for a new fall look.  Try a smokey look or add in some fall earth tones.  I always feel fresh and new with a new color of lipstick.  If you are feeling like you need help I am happy to help with your own current make-up or with LaShell Cosmetics.

3.  Create some new outfits.  You don’t even need to shop for this.  Just use the clothes you already have in your closet.  Start with one item that you want to create an outfit around and build on it.  Make sure you layer, use interesting color combination, add in prints or interesting detailing and accessorize!

4.  Get a new hair cut or color!  It can be drastic or minimal but a visit to the hair salon is always a great way to update your look.  If you need a stylist I recommend Stefani Martin at Sola Salon in Walnut Creek.

5.  Buy a fun new pair of shoes.  Interesting shoes are a great way to keep outfits updated.

6.  Clean out and reorganize your closet.  It’s time to start putting your very summery items away.  While you are doing this, you may want to retire things you have not worn this year.  When adding your fall clothing back in make sure it all still fits and you like it.  No sense in adding it back in if it’s going to take up prime real estate in your closet!

7.  Once you have added your fall items back to the closet you can create a shopping list for what’s missing.  Make a few purchases that will make you feel current and amazing about yourself.

8.  Treat yourself every now and then with a massage or a pedicure!  I love Kristin Kohs for a massage from the Sanctuary and always feel refreshed and centered afterwards.

9.  Buy new glasses.  If you wear glasses maybe it’s time for an update!

10.  Try something new!  Get creative with your clothes and see what fun outfits you can put together!

Welcome to Such Savvy Style

Dear Carrie,
Well, it’s time to get out the summer duds and open toed shoes.  Yay!!  Spring and Summer are for sure my preferred time of the year.  Lots going on here in the next month.  I am finishing up my year as President of AICI which is bittersweet.  It has been a lot of work but I also have enjoyed it.  It has been a wonderful experience for my career.  I am also getting ready to head to Dallas for the annual J Hilburn conference.  If the man in your life still hasn’t experienced J HIlburn I highly recommend you take a look.    A gift certificate for Father’s Day might just be the perfect idea. www.carrielashell.jhilburn.com
Does FIT really matter?

The other day I was driving along and saw this woman walking down the street wearing the cutest dress I have seen in awhile.
But I also noticed that it was not a flattering dress on her at all.  One thing many of you have heard me say many times is that all trends are not for all bodies.  I am a firm believer that fit is the key, and really the most important thing to look at when making purchases.
So what are the important things to consider when out shopping or looking at trends?

1.  Don’t be married to a size or a number.  I can honestly say that I can wear a size 4 to a size 10 depending on the store.  Now those of you who know me well KNOW I am NO size 4.  You want to make sure that the clothing items skims your silhouette.  If the number bothers you, just cut out the tag!

2.  Really take a look at your body in the clothing item.  Often times if I am shopping alone I ask the sales person to take a picture of me.  A picture won’t lie to you.  You will either love it or hate it.  If you hate it in the picture chances are you won’t wear it and it will sit in your closet as you wonder….."why am I not wearing this cute dress?"

3.  Remember what your body shape is and that you want to dress for it.  For example, If you are bigger on the bottom and smaller on top you want to make sure to balance out your top by adding volume there.  When you are holding a dress out and thinking "oh, isn’t this cute!", I want you to really look at in terms of the line designs and focal points.  What stands out to you, and will what stands out hit your problem areas?   Will it look nice on YOUR body?

4.  Sometimes items just need a little tweak to make them just perfect!  Alterations from a tailor are common for some of you but it might feel like a hassle for others.  What I want you to remember is that off the rack clothing is cut based on measurements of models…not YOU!  So, think about it, that fabulous dress you love that isn’t just right could be AMAZING with a few changes.

If you remember nothing else, remember that FIT is key.  If it’s trendy but unflattering people will only remember is that it was unflattering not that is was a cool and trendy item.  If you dress in clothing that is a perfect fit you will WOW them!

I am woman hear me ROAR!

I recently was thinking about how I have been blessed to work with so many of you.  Some have made total life transformation in terms of your image.  I want you all to think about how much courage it takes to actually make changes to your image.  For some of you that means colleagues or friends making comments and taking notice which could feel overwhelming or down right intimidating.  BUT YOU did it and I am so proud and I thank you for letting me help you and trusting in me.

So what to do now with all this self confidence?  Well what about capturing the new you in photos?  I think we can all agree we love looking at our old skinny pics…oh, come on, you know you do!  Lily Dong offers a photo session that will capture your new fabulous look we have created and capture your inner beauty. Carrie’s Favorites for Spring??

Well, let’s start by saying that I won’t be embracing the trend of the crop top!  Really, this makes me laugh!  How many of us who are buying the majority of the clothing in the US are going to be wearing a crop top!?!  So let’s all just agree to pass on this trend.

But on to my picks….Of course I am loving the black and white.  Although the contrast of black and white is not best for most of us, it sure is fun!  I am wearing it with more white around my face or adding a colorful necklace.  However, I did break all the rules and purchase a fabulous dress that is high contrast around my face….so I just made sure my makeup could handle the contrast of the black and white.

Of course I am in love with the color of the year which is radiant orchid.  This is such a great color and works so well for so many people.  It’s fun to do in your make-up, accessories, shoes or even a full dress.  As a matter of fact, LaShell Cosmetics, just came out with Orchid lipstick which is BEAUTIFUL!

Because I am a print girl, I am so happy to see such fun prints.  The chevron and floral prints are my favorite!  However, I am having fun with stripes too.  Remember, if a horizontal stripe is thin (a half inch or less in width) on a longer garment (meaning not a crop top…LOL) then the stripe will take on the effect of a vertical.  In fact, this is a slimming trick.

So, I have had many of you asking, what are the must haves for spring.  Here would be my top ten items to keep your outfits fun for spring.

1.  1 or 2 fun colorful pair of shoes.

2.  A denim jacket – white or jean.

2.  A fun colored purse that will go with a lot of the things in your closet.

3.  1 or 2 statement necklaces that are multi-colored so they can be worn with lots of outfits.

4.  A fun spring dress you love and feel good in.  Something that can be dressed up or dressed down.

5.  Don’t kill me for this…white thin legged jeans.

6.  Tops and or pants with prints or the colors of the season.

7.  A comfy pair of wedge sandals.

8.  A fun black and white skirt or pair of pants.

9.  A spring light weight leather or faux leather neutral jacket.

10.  Once again this season color is important so make sure you are adding fun colorful items to your outfits.

I was inspired…

To make some videos at the beginning of the year.  Yikes, that was a production as I am not a tech girl.  If you happened to miss these master pieces on Facebook I will share them again here.  Clearly, I need a little help in this department and am taking a class this month!  But, in the meantime…..

The first video is tips on cleaning and organizing your closet and the second is about the kind of make-up brushes I recommend.

Welcome to Such Savvy Style

Greetings!
It seems crazy to me that I am hearing Christmas music at Macy’s every time I am there!  BUT, the holiday’s are upon us.  This time of the year can be crazy and stressful but hopefully you take time to enjoy the special moments as well.  The last couple of months for me have been busy as I launched my LaShell Cosmetics website, shopped with many of you and made lots of fun, new, cool fall outfits!
What’s hot for Holiday??

Green Holiday Dresses

Well, it is the time of the year to start thinking about just what you are going to wear to your big holiday events.  So I have put together a few tips that will hopefully help take away some of the stress of what you will wear to all of your functions.

1.  If you are an emerald green girl this is the season for you!  Because emerald green was the Pantone color of the season you should be able to find fabulous dresses and tops in this amazing color.  If you have a red or auburn hair, or have green eyes, you should take advantage of this being your lucky year!

2.  Because leather is one of the hottest trends this year you will see leather everywhere.  I have even started to see it on evening gowns.  A fun look may be leather and lace if you are going to a little less formal event.

3.  Adding a stunning accessory on top of a simple dress or outfit is always a hit.  There are so many amazing statement pieces out there to choose from.  Just remember, if it is a true statement piece like the one pictured below you need your other jewelry to be very simple.

4.  If you are on the hunt for a dress keep in mind that this season you can push the envelope and go beyond the little black dress.  Although a LBD is always appropriate, this is a year there are many delicious colors and patterns to choose from.  In fact, I encourage you to not wear a LBD!

5.  Please remember if your outfit has sequins or sparkles all over then be mindful of the kind of accessories you wear.  Too much bling can kill any outfit!  I know this one can be hard as some of us LOVE our bling and sparkle but ladies, trust me on this one!

6.  One look that is fun and a little more casual is a metallic or festive tunic over a legging or narrow pant with heels.  If the top is simple throw on a fun necklace or scarf and you are all set.

7.  And who can forget holiday shoes!  This year you will see everything from over the knee boots, to booties, to sexy holiday dress shoes depending on the occasion.  Remember, if you feel like you want to keep your outfit on the simple side you can always play up the ensemble with a fun pair of statement shoes or boots.

Shopping Black Friday Sales…

Yikes, yes, it’s just around the corner!  You either hate it or love it…Yep, it’s the black Friday sales.  But before jumping on the sale bandwagon and splurging on great discounts, be cautious, be aware and be patient. How do you do that? Read these guidelines carefully before bringing all those discounted items up to the cash register.

1.  Shop for your current size not the size you hope to be.

2.  Understand the return policy.  If you are buying gifts make sure the receiver will have plenty of time to return or exchange the item if it doesn’t fit them.

3.  A great sale can be a huge deception.  Sale items that are practically discounted to nothing may seem like steals but there is a reason why they are marked down. If you buy something and never wear it, that incredibly outrageous sale item is a 100% bad investment. If you don’t LOVE, it don’t buy it!

4.  Shop with a list. There is nothing worse then going shopping on a sale day and buying just to buy.  This is when you come home with one hit wonders that go with nothing else in your closet!  Have a plan and know what is missing from your wardrobe.

5. Most importantly will the sale item work with the rest of your wardrobe.  Will it "fit in"?  Or will it remain a loner in your closet.

Happy Shopping!  Let me know if you need help.  I have some clients that I do all their holiday shopping for them.

TAA DAA!

There are a lot of fun goodies to check out.  You can see some of my favorite items in Carrie’s corner.

Gift Certificates Available!!

It’s the time of the year when we start thinking about what we want to give our friends and family for holiday gifts.  It’s also the time of the year when people start to ask what YOU want for the holidays!  If you have been thinking about updating your look, or if you have someone in your life going through life changes, a gift certificate from Such Savvy Style may be just the answer!

What about the men in your life??

If you have thought about creating a personalized gift for the men in your life this holiday why not give them a gift you will appreciate too?  A custom fit shirt might be the answer!  J Hilburn is the leader in custom Italian fabric shirts.  Plus, they have a wide selection of ready to wear items like AG Jeans, cashmere sweaters and trousers.   This month for every $150 you spend you get a credit back of $25 to spend in December.   The best news is you can shop right from your home.  I can either come to you or you can shop from my website.

Welcome to Such Savvy Style

Dear Carrie,
I really don’t think I am ready for fall but it’s here!  I have been shopping with clients for fall since the second week of July.  Although I love the idea of starting to get my jackets and boots out, I am not ready for flip flop weather and long days to end.  Here in CA we have another month, maybe two, of nice warm weather.  This summer has been a whirlwind.  I became the President of AICI (Association of Image Consultants International) SF bay area chapter.  I also won a very cool award that I feel honored to have won– AICI Raising Star Award.  Add that in with shopping with clients at a very busy Nordstrom Anniversary Sale, a J Hilburn trip to Las Vegas for the annual convention and a vacation and you have the end of summer!  If you are ready to shop for fall but have no idea what to buy I hope the below guide will help give you with some ideas of what’s out there.  Of course as always, I am here to help if and when you are ready.  My calendar is already starting to get filled for fall and I am so grateful to all of you who continue to support me and this business!

Would you like some leather on your….

Colored Leather

In my opinion the hottest trend of the fall season is the leather that you are seeing everywhere!  Leather on pants, skirts, tops, jackets, scarves, pants and pretty much anywhere you can think to put leather trim.  One reason I love this trend is because everyone can pull it off.  You may not be able to wear leather leggings but anyone can find a sweater that is flattering with a little leather trim on it.

Leather also has varying price ranges, weights and colors which adds to its versatility.   Price can range from a top of the line leather jacket to a very a reasonably priced item like a skirt with leather trim.  Remember, when making a colored leather purchase think about finding a color that is flattering to you and that will match other items in your wardrobe.  Also keep in mind where you live and the weight of the leather that will work best for your year round seasons.  If you buy one thing this season I would recommend buying something that includes leather!

What about all this color???

One question I get all the time is “All this color is SO bright, how do I wear these colors that are so popular now?”

OK, yes, bright color is everywhere.  I personally love it as I think it’s fun to mix color and I like to feel bright and “sunny”!  But, with that said I know a lot of people feel differently.  I always tell clients if you’re new to color just dab your toe in the water and see what happens.  I am certainly not suggesting MY favorite summer outfit, yellow skinny jeans and a multi-colored striped top.  However, I am suggesting that you open yourself a little and make that fun purchase of a colored pair of jeans, or colored wool winter coat.  If that even feels too risky think about adding a colorful purse or pair of colored shoes to your wardrobe.  Color is one of the things that takes outfits from ordinary to extraordinary!!

If you are already diving head first into embracing all the bright fun color in the stores think about taking things a step further and start mixing colors together.  It’s currently really popular to wear multiple bright colors together.  When I do this I feel more comfortable when I can repeat the colors so the color combinations don’t seem so harsh.  For example, I would start with a purple and yellow print skirt.  I then would add a purple top and throw on some fun yellow shoes.  I would most likely add a necklace with yellow as well.  As you can see I am playing with two strong colors but repeating both colors and adding a pattern.

LaShell Cosmetics

As my cosmetic line continues to grow, over the last two years I have seen a few products emerge as some client favorites!  One of these is a skin care product called Marine Moisturizer and I can barely keep it in stock it sells so well.  The product contains the  natural product Red Marine Algae (Sea Kelp) which is known to add moisture to the skin, reduce fine lines and wrinkles, increase skin firmness and reduce redness.  The best little secret  of the day is the manufacturer that makes this product for me also makes this product for another company that sells their products at Nordstrom and Neiman Marcus.  They sell this exact same product for $285.00 and LaShell Cosmetics sells it for $28.00.  Yikes!!!  I use this product daily and I absolutely love it!  If you are interested in trying this amazing product email me at:
carrie@suchsavvystyle.com  I am currently working like crazy to open the LaShell Cosmetics online store and hope to have that complete by the next newsletter!
